"I can't believe I didn't run across the Oldsjetfire website before. Fantastic. The '64 to '72 Cutlass crowd are very lucky to have all the resources they could ever wish for. I know the '61 to '63 folks will probably always be swimming upstream but your website is great news to me. I have always been a car nut since I was about 9 or tens years old. When my dad got our '63 in 1974 I became very interested in the '61 to '63 models, especially the Jetfire. I owned a 1964 F-85 and a 1964 Cutlass before I bought the '63 from my dad."
An associate of my father purchased this car new in St. Louis, Missouri on August 13, 1963. The gentleman gave it to his wife to drive. She only used it for going to the grocery store and other errands. When my father learned that the couple wanted to sell the car he purchased it May 14, 1974 with 37,000 miles on it. I purchased the car from my father March 30, 1984 with 67,000 miles on it.
My father had a "company car" that he was able to use for personal-use so
This is about a 1963 Jetfire which technically belongs to my son Matt. He originally found it in a pole barn that belonged to his friends dad around 2002 in Southern Indiana. It had been off the road since 1974 with a bad cam shaft . There was still a Kentucky plate on it with an expiration date of 1974, so I know it wasn’t driven after that. The friends dad had pulled the engine out of it and was in the process of rebuilding it. However, for some reason he managed to lose one of the connecting rods, apparently couldnt find another one and had abandoned the project for a number of years. When my son first told me about the car model and the aluminum 215 CID turbo engine, I told him

Where it started for me:
Hello, Olds Folks!
I am not a purist but I love the basics of the ’62 Cutlass, the body style, the aluminum V8 and of course the fact that I never see another one at cruise night. I acquired the car from my uncle’s estate in 1987 and started driving it, but at the same time working on safety things. I installed new front end components, did the brakes and exhaust but mostly just drove it. Early in the ‘90s, I pulled the engine and transmission to install a 350/350 combo, thank God I never did. In the meantime, I had sold the 215 to a fellow for his MG, luckily he never used it and I got the engine back.
My Jetfire engine is a '63. I purchased it in 2001 in Tucson, AZ when I got my 1962 Olds F85 Sports Convertible. Seems the previous owner had bought the complete engine "as is" from D&D with hopes of installing it someday in the car he sold me. The car was not in good shape mechanically, but the body and interior were pretty good. I made him include the '63 TurboRocket engine in the deal, thinking it might be worth more than the car itself. This car did not have its original engine with it.
